“The Silent Pressure Crushing Men Post-Covid — And How to Rebuild from the Inside Out”

Three years on, and the world has seemingly moved on from Covid. But I’m seeing the aftershocks in a different way—particularly in men.

Men who once owned thriving businesses. Men who were confident, driven, sure of who they were. Men who now feel like shadows of themselves.

The pandemic didn’t just close bank accounts, it shattered egos, self-worth, and the s

ense of control many men once had over their future. And the fallout? Quiet. Unspoken. Hidden behind doing-what-it-takes jobs, fake smiles at the dinner table, and a silent longing to get back what was lost.

Couple having issues. Man sits on the edge of the bed and a woman in his wife in the background. He is upset and thinking about problems and going to therapy.

I see it in my RTT practice. I’m currently working with a client who went from suicidal ideation to feeling empowered after just a few sessions. He was buckling under the invisible pressure: to keep his family financially safe, to be the provider, to never admit he felt lost.

But here's what we're not talking about: when men are forced to live only in the “earning lane” and ignore the desires of their heart, something inside begins to erode. This is where breakdowns happen. Or worse, unchecked mental health spirals.

This is also where relationships breakdown. The partner feels alienated by his struggles he has changed and the disconnect begins. He feels unseen, missunderstood and hard done by. When we feel that way we typically turn to coping strategies and mostly the type which offer an escape from reality. Escape from pain.

Alcohol, drugs, pornography, digital distractions like AI titillation and Netflix etc...

If you’ve ever felt like your inner voice is whispering, “There has to be more than this,” you’re not alone.

What we worked on together was a complete reframing of his value. He began to realise his worth wasn’t just about money, it was about presence, inner peace, purpose. He saw that creating a balanced, happy family life didn’t have to mean sacrificing himself but rather that he himself needed those things in order to feel connected to something wonderful which he was a pivotal part of. He didn’t need to grind to prove anything and that his wife wasn't being unreasonable to expect the unspoken contract she had married into. She also works but when the chips are down her unspoken contract was to take care of their children.

If we were to ask her if that expectation felt fair to her I'm betting she would say no.

He’s now walking back toward himself, his wife and children with a new perspective. A man who leads not from survival mode but from self-worth and self-love.

RTT doesn’t just rewire beliefs. It restores what was lost.

And for many men post-Covid, that’s the exact lifeline they need.

If you're a man silently carrying the weight of the world, or you know one who is. I'm here. One session can shift everything. https://www.nidiaharris.com/book-online
